There is one more good reason to love the sun-sensible exposure to sunshine is good for your brain.Higher levels of vitamin D (synthesized in the body when skin is exposed to the sun's rays) are associated with improved brain function in later life, according to a study published in the journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.Researchers looked at the cognitive performance of more than 3,000 men aged 40 to 79 and found a significant association between slower information processing speed and lower levels of vitamin D.The study adds to the growing evidence that vitamin D, in moderation,has a positive effect on the brain.Apart from the supplement forms and the sun,vitamin D is also found in oily fish,fish liver oils,cheese and eggs.
